Match the trophy to the achievement
Scale should track significance. An annual company-wide award justifies a large sculpted crystal piece with a lighted base. A monthly team recognition does not, and an oversized trophy for a small achievement reads as hollow.
Where you run a recurring program, a consistent design in ascending sizes works well: the same family of award at different tiers tells everyone what each level means at a glance.
Bases and lighting
The base carries the weight, literally and visually. A heavy marble, granite, or metal base makes a trophy feel substantial and stops it toppling. A light plastic base undermines whatever sits on it.
Lighted bases illuminate a crystal piece from below and are genuinely striking on a shelf or in a cabinet. They need power or batteries, so consider where the trophy will actually sit before choosing one.
Engraving and proofing
Laser engraving is standard for text, sand etching for larger bold marks, and full color printing where the logo depends on its colors. Engraved metal plates on the base are the traditional way to carry names and dates and can be replaced on a perpetual trophy.
Proof every name character by character against an authoritative list. A misspelled trophy cannot be quietly discarded; it sits on a shelf as a permanent record of carelessness. Order at least one spare blank, because someone is always added late.
