Size and material
Common sizes run from three to eight ounces. Six ounces is the traditional pocket size; smaller flasks are more discreet and larger ones are less comfortable to carry.
Stainless steel is standard and does not affect flavor. Wooden and leather wrapped flasks look like gifts and photograph well, with the caveat that natural materials should not be submerged when washing.
Check the cap seal. A flask that leaks in a jacket pocket is a memorable failure, and a hinged captive cap is better than a loose screw cap that gets lost.
