Insulation and lids
Double wall vacuum insulation in stainless steel is what keeps a drink cold through a working day. Single wall bottles sweat and warm quickly, and no amount of description changes that.
The lid decides how the canteen is used. A sport or chug lid allows drinking while moving and is what most people prefer. A straw lid suits desk and car use. A plain screw cap seals best for a bag.
Check that the lid comes apart for cleaning, since a gasket that cannot be removed grows a smell and ends the bottle’s life.
Finish and durability
Powder coated and soft touch finishes grip well and take engraving cleanly. Both chip if dropped on concrete, which is normal rather than a defect.
Confirm the interior is 18/8 stainless and that the product is stated as BPA free.
Decoration and audience
Laser engraving on powder coat produces a permanent contrast mark and survives any dishwasher. Printed logos on a bottle washed daily will eventually fade, so engraving is the better investment on anything meant to last.
