Custom Lanyards Printed with Your Logo
A lanyard is the one item at a conference that every attendee wears for the entire event, at eye level, in every photograph. That is why it is usually the first thing an event organizer orders and the last thing worth cutting. Beyond trade shows, lanyards carry employee credentials in offices, hospitals, schools, factories, and anywhere access badges are worn daily, which means a well-made one is in service for years rather than a weekend. The choices that matter are width, print method, attachment hardware, and safety release. Standard length is 36 inches, and standard widths run from 3/8 inch through 3/4 inch. Wider webbing gives the artwork more room and feels more substantial on the neck. Pair them with Badge Holders or printed Badges to complete a credential set.

Choosing a width
3/8 inch is the economy width. It works for single-line text or a simple wordmark and is the most common choice for large-volume giveaways where the budget is set per attendee.
1/2 inch and 5/8 inch are the workhorses. There is enough room for a logo plus a tagline or a URL, and the webbing sits comfortably. If you are ordering one width for general use, 5/8 inch is the safe pick.
3/4 inch and wider is for artwork that needs to be read across a room, for full color graphics, or for sponsor credentials where several logos share the strap.
Silkscreen, sublimation, and woven
Silkscreen prints ink on top of the webbing. It is the most economical method, it holds a PMS match well, and it is the right choice for one or two flat colors. Over years of heavy wear the ink can eventually show fading at the fold points.
Sublimation dyes the artwork into the polyester fibers, so the print cannot rub off and the color runs edge to edge. This is the method to use for gradients, photographs, patterns, or any design with more than a few colors. It also prints the full width of the strap, which silkscreen does not always do cleanly.
Woven lanyards have the design worked into the fabric itself. They feel like a premium textile and never wear off, but detail is limited by the weave, so fine text and small logos are not a good fit.
Ask whether the price includes printing on both sides. Double-sided printing means the logo is visible no matter how the strap twists during the day, and on a lanyard that twists constantly, that is a real difference and not an upsell.
Attachments and hardware
The attachment is what the badge actually hangs from, and it is worth specifying rather than accepting the default. A swivel hook or bulldog clip is standard and suits a plastic badge holder. A badge reel lets the wearer pull the card down to a scanner without taking the lanyard off, which is the right choice for any site with card readers at doors or time clocks. Split rings turn the lanyard into a key carrier, useful for staff and for facilities teams. Phone loops and cell phone attachments are common for student and campus programs.
Breakaway and safety
A breakaway clasp separates at the back of the neck when the strap is pulled. For schools, hospitals, warehouses, and anywhere near machinery, this is not an optional feature. Many institutions will reject a lanyard order outright if it lacks one, and some have written policies requiring it. If your lanyards are going to staff who work around equipment, patients, or children, specify breakaway before you compare prices, because it changes which products you are allowed to consider.
Lead times: the part that catches buyers out
Lanyard pricing in this industry is tied directly to where and how fast the item is produced, and the difference is measured in months, not days. Overseas production is the least expensive option and commonly runs eight to ten weeks, sometimes longer with factory-direct programs. Domestic and quick-ship programs deliver in a fraction of that time at a higher unit price.
The honest advice: if your event is less than three months away, the cheapest lanyard on the page is not available to you, and no amount of expediting will change the shipping schedule of an ocean container. Decide your date first, then look at price. Ordering overseas production against a tight deadline is the single most common way a lanyard order goes wrong.
Artwork
Send vector artwork. Lanyard imprints are narrow, so fine lines and small type break down quickly, especially on silkscreen and woven. Simplify the logo if needed rather than shrinking it. If you need an exact brand color, supply the PMS number and confirm that a match is included, since some overseas programs charge for it.
