Read the gusset and the can count
Dimensions in this range are given as width by height by gusset, and the gusset is the number that decides whether a lunch box fits. A tote with a three inch gusset takes a sandwich and a drink. A six inch gusset takes a real packed lunch or a six pack. Where a product states a can count, use that instead of guessing from the photo, because it is measured with the insulation already in place.
Insulation, and what it does not do
Most bags here use foam or foil lined insulation, often in heat sealed non woven polypropylene or PEVA. That keeps food cool for a few hours with an ice pack, which is what a lunch or a picnic needs. It is not a cooler in the camping sense. If someone needs cold drinks on a site all day in summer, they need a hard sided cooler and ice, not an insulated tote. We would rather say that now than have the order come back.
The closure matters more than people expect. A zipper holds cold far better than a hook and loop flap, and a flap holds it better than an open tote. If the bag is for food safety rather than convenience, buy the zipper.
Recycled construction
A large part of this range is RPET and recycled non woven polypropylene made from post consumer bottles. This is one of the categories where recycled content costs little more than virgin material, so if your organisation has a sustainability commitment there is no strong reason not to specify it here.
Decoration
Non woven and RPET panels take screen printing and full color transfer across a large flat area. Avoid running artwork over a seam or a zipper line, because the print breaks where the panel folds. Keep the design inside the front panel and it stays clean for the life of the bag.
