Adapter, not converter

This distinction causes real damage. A travel adapter changes the plug shape only. It does not change the voltage. A device rated for a single voltage plugged into a different supply through an adapter will be destroyed.

Most modern laptops and phone chargers handle the full range and are fine. Hair dryers, shavers, and kettles frequently are not. Say this plainly rather than assuming the recipient knows, because the failure is expensive and immediate.

Built-in charging

An adapter with USB-A and USB-C ports replaces both the adapter and the charger, which is what makes the better ones worth carrying. Look at the total wattage and whether one port supports Power Delivery, which is what charges a laptop at a useful speed.

Anything plugging into a wall should carry UL or ETL listing, and this is not a corner to cut.

Hubs

Multi-port hubs solve the problem of laptops with two ports and are a strong gift for any audience working from different desks. Check which connections are included, since HDMI and card readers are what people actually need.

These suit corporate travel programs, airlines and hotels, technology companies, universities with international students, and conferences. Decoration is a small pad print or laser mark. Browse the wider range in Tech & Electronics.
