Bedside or desk

A bedside alarm clock is looked at first thing in the morning and last thing at night, which is unusually valuable placement. Features that matter are a display that dims properly at night, a simple alarm, and USB charging ports, which remove the need for a separate charger.

Sunrise simulation clocks have become popular for wellness programs, and they are genuinely pleasant to wake up to.

A desk clock in wood or metal is a recognition gift rather than a gadget, and it suits engraving with a name and a date.

What to check

Many digital clocks require mains power and lose their settings in a power cut unless they have a battery backup. That is a small annoyance that recurs, so a backup is worth having.

Check the display brightness at the lowest setting. A bedside clock that lights a whole room is unplugged within a week.

Decoration and audience

Laser engraving on wood and metal is permanent and appropriate for a milestone gift. Plastic bodies take a pad print.

Clocks suit long-service and retirement recognition, executive gifting, hotels, healthcare, and wellness programs. Browse related items in Home & Kitchen.
