Weight and weave
Microfiber is specified in GSM. Lighter cloths around 170 GSM are thin and fine for a quick wipe. Heavier cloths at 220 GSM and above feel substantial and clean better.
Suede finish microfiber is softer and safer on coated lenses and anti-glare screens. A cloth that is too coarse can leave fine scratches on a coating, which is the one way this item can go wrong.
Format and printing
A loose cloth goes in a drawer. A cloth in a case, a pouch, or attached to a phone travels with the person and is there when needed.
Full color dye sublimation covers the entire cloth, which gives a surprisingly large printed surface for a very small item, and custom die-cut shapes are inexpensive.
Swedish dishcloths are a different product: a cellulose and cotton cloth that replaces paper towels and composts at the end of its life, which makes it a strong sustainability item.
