Inflatables are bought for scale. Nothing else in promotional products turns a small budget into something visible from across a field, a car park, or an exhibition hall. Handheld inflatables
Small inflatables are event props. They are cheap, they ship flat, and they photograph well because a crowd holding identical bright objects reads instantly in a picture. Cheer sticks and inflatable hammers work in stadiums, parades, and rallies. Inflatable animals and novelty shapes go home with children.
The material thickness, quoted in mil, decides whether they survive the event. Thin PVC splits under enthusiasm, which is exactly what you are encouraging. For anything that will be struck, thrown, or waved, pay for the heavier gauge.
Inflatable tents and large structures
Inflatable event tents and spider tents are a different purchase entirely. They set up in minutes with a blower, they pack into a case two people can carry, and the entire surface is a full color printed canvas. For roadshows, race events, and outdoor activations they replace a traditional frame tent and set up considerably faster.
Two practical points. They need continuous or periodic air depending on design, so there must be power or a battery blower on site. And they must be anchored properly: stakes on grass, weights on hard ground. An unsecured inflatable structure in wind is a genuine safety hazard, and event organizers will ask you about it.
Helium spheres and balloons
A helium sphere floats above a site and is visible from a distance, which is the whole point. Bear in mind that helium supply has been periodically constrained and expensive, and that a tethered sphere is subject to local rules in some areas, particularly near airports.
Cold air inflatables achieve much of the same visual effect without helium and are the more practical choice for a recurring program.
Printing
Screen printing handles spot colors on small inflatables and is the economical standard. Full color digital printing covers large structures and reproduces photographic artwork across panels.
Design for a curved, flexible surface. Fine detail and small text distort as the item inflates, and artwork that spans a seam will not align perfectly. Bold shapes and strong color carry across a field; a detailed logo does not.
Safety and audience
Inflatables given to children fall under the same considerations as any children’s product, including CPSIA requirements in the United States. Thin plastic film carries suffocation risk for small children, and no inflatable is a flotation device, which must be stated clearly wherever water is involved.
