Cuffed or uncuffed
A cuffed beanie has a folded band, which is warmer over the ears and gives a clean flat surface for embroidery. It is the traditional and most universally flattering style.
An uncuffed beanie sits closer to the head and reads more contemporary. A slouch style has extra length at the back.
If you are ordering one style for a mixed group, cuffed is the safer choice and gives the better decoration surface.
Yarn and lining
Most promotional beanies are acrylic, which is warm, inexpensive, and holds color well. Acrylic and wool blends feel better and breathe more. Fleece-lined beanies are noticeably warmer and are worth it for genuinely cold climates or outdoor workers.
Cable knit and jacquard patterns add visual interest, with jacquard allowing a pattern or logo knitted into the fabric itself rather than applied on top.
Check the yarn for itch. A scratchy beanie is not worn no matter how good the logo looks, and this is something only a physical sample will tell you.
Decoration and lead times
Embroidery on the cuff or the front is standard. Knit fabric stretches, so the decorator needs proper backing or the design distorts. Fine detail does not survive on knit at any price. Woven and leather patches are popular and handle complex logos far better.
